DINNIMAN ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HEARING ON PA. OPEN RECORDS LAW

WHAT:             Senate Democratic Policy Committee hearing on Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know law

DETAILS:         Sens. Dinniman and Williams, members of the Senate Policy Committee, will host a public discussion on Pennsylvania’s current open records law and what can be done to improve it. The public is invited to attend.

                        “We need a Right-to-Know law that better acknowledges that the public has a right to know what its government is doing and how its government is spending taxpayers' money. Our Right-to-Know law must also recognize that the public shouldn't have to fight to get that information." Dinniman said. “I look forward to Friday’s hearing and learning what our various testifiers have to say about what specifically they want to see in Pennsylvania Right-to-Know law.”

                        Panelists include Barry Kauffman, executive director of Common Cause/Pennsylvania; Lora Lavin, second vice president (Issues and Actions) of the League of Women Voters; Deborah Musselman, director of Government Affairs of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association; and Bridgettte ReDavid, editor of the News of Delaware County.
